Top Gear India Special # Posted by Rob Drinkwater on December 31, 2011, 1:02 am Message modified by board administrator January 1, 2012, 12:36 pm I always find these Top Gear specials mildly amusing, especially the pranks they all play on each other, but did you guys see Clarkson cracking off a pipe on May's air con on his old P reg roller, May claimed the a/c was working beautifully, so one assumes there was R12 or maybe an R134a conversion, either way some refrigerant in it, then Clarkson just undoes a pipe & lets it go. Not really a good example to the public, suggesting it's OK to just let refrigerant go. I know they were in India, but the Kyoto protocol does still apply, as they are a signatory from 2002. The biggest problem is viewers will consider this an O.K practice here with no knowledge or regard of any legal or environmental implications. We go on courses get qualifications jump through all the hoops spending loads and a TV program turns it into an insignificant giggle. Ian

That means that when Joe Bloggs decides he's going to have a go at changing the cam belt on his Audi A4 nad had to take the whole front end off the car he'll think it is OK to just let the refrigerant go to atmosphere. A one off is no problem, but as a cumulative thing it ain't good. Regards, Rob.
