Dealer tricks # Posted by Steve Nicholas on May 23, 2012, 8:06 pm Message modified by board administrator May 28, 2012, 1:01 pm My colleague was in a local dealership today and overheard the service receptionist talking to one of their customers. They had just had the car in and now everything on the car had been reset to default apparently. The receptionist went on to explain that the recall that had brought the car in was not for a critical software update, as their letter had said, but was for a general vehicle check, "so that we could get some work in"... this explanation was intended to convince the customer that their activities had not caused the problems the car was now showing. I suspect that this receptionist is too honest to survive in this particular job but confirmed what we all suspect or are blatantly aware of. Regards, Steve

Re: Dealer tricks Posted by promis christodoulou on June 18, 2012, 11:55 pm, in reply to "Re: Dealer tricks" Promis Christodoulou last year I did an MOT which had several advisories and a couple of failures like headlight alignment and a couple of bulbs we did the essentials to get it through and priced up the advisories which was 2 front tyres and minor corrosion to the rear pipes. to and from his work he passed the local Renault dealership so took advantage of their 'free health check'he had the work done on the basis the vehicle was too dangerous to drive. he came in to us the following week screaming like a banshee demanding we reimbursed him for his expense, I asked him for the original paperwork he had shoved in his glove box where i showed him the advisories and our quote for the work. after a sincere apology I banned him from the workshop.
