5 things you enjoy about being a vehicle technician? # Posted by James Eardley on July 19, 2012, 3:24 pm Message modified by board administrator July 23, 2012, 2:47 pm Hi guys After wrestling with a starter motor on a fiat doblo recently and losing most of the skin on my left arm. Whilst stressing out I got to thinking, there has got to be easier jobs out there. Needless to say the starter motor lost, the skin on my arm has grown back and I am happy in my work once more But, I have been asking technicians I know if they can list 5 things that they enjoy about their job in the motor trade. Most people have struggled to come up with even 2 reasons, the most popular answer is job satisfaction after a good fix. 1 person came up with 3 reasons. When I asked the same people for 5 things they dont like about there job people have been naming 7 or 8 straight off the bat. This isn't meant to be a depressing post, I am just simply curious what different people enjoy about being a technician. If you are willing to take part could you list the 5 reasons in your reply and roughly how long it took you to come up with the reasons. Thanks in advance James

Sean Savage took 3 minutes. 1 The challenge of the job 2 Going to work each day to do something different and not repetitive 3 Dealing with the general public 4 Having the "crack" with the staff 5 Job satisfaction at the end 6 Seeing my staff happy in their job 7 It does keep us fit to some degree 8 Most important. seeing my customer walk away with a thankyou and not feeling robbed.

Martin Manns Interesting Question This. 1. Enjoy not knowing where any one diagnostic job is going to take me. 2. That marvelous feeling when the MIL goes out and stays out. 3. Enjoying having to learn all that new stuff. 4. Buying new kit is great. 5. The work shop camaraderie. The job isn't always rosey, but the good normally outweighs the bad. 5 Minutes. Cheers Martin

Alarm going off at 2:30 this morning and alarm company saying nobody can come out for two and a half hours to fix... Being sent 3 set of disc before we get right ones..
