Ford Escort 1994 1400 CVH MPi - Erratic idle, very lumpy tickover Archived Message

Hello chaps, hope you can help because this car is really testing me.
Its a multi point inj 1400 cvh with a lumpy idle and erratic revs.
I have replaced the throttle pot, mass air flow meter (both genuine parts) and a second hand ECU. It has no faults logged and if you disconnect the MAF it runs perfect. On a gas analayser it has high CO and HC's and o2 levels until MAF disconnected then everthing drops, and it would make a 2005 honda civics emissions look poor!!!!!

I suspect a wiring fault, or possibly coolant temp sensor but i have watched the coolant from cold through to hot and it seems ok no spikes at all. I am usually good with ford cars but this little terror is doing my nut!!
I have been using Autodiagnos to try to diagnose fault.

    Help!
