I never heard anything as ridiculous as this in my life! The bad step terrified me and I made a special trip with two young folk to tackle it and had a full adventurous experience. THAT IS WHAT LIFE IN sCOTLAND IS ALL ABOUT. My brother died in a small river that was in spate way back in 1962 at the age of 24. Perhaps we should have all small rivers in Scotland piped underground?
And what about flattening ALL the mountains as well as draining all the lochs!
There is plenty of adventure for the people to choose from and each to his own I say, but lets's not be trying to make natural places "safe" with health and safety culture and risk assessments that numb the mind with their banality.
The bad step is a natural hazard put there in the same way Mount Everest. The Cuilin Ridge is there for all to admire, some to walk round and others to conquer.
Keep the politicians, the faint hearted, the do-gooders, the meally mouthed and the health and safety nerds away from our excitement and enjoyment of the wild places. Give them their fur lined boxes to hide in and give US peace!
