I didnt mean to say I hope you fail the course, sorry about that.
I understand your position, however, i beleive that smallish schemes like this and indeed some larger ones can enhance areas.
In the lake district where they flooded Mardale, there was massive opposition at the time however now it is seen as a massive success and the area is beautiful.
At Abbeystead, Dunsop Bridge, Bowland Forrest, these power schemes have 'added' to the area, ok they arent sightly but the access roads and rivers created attract loads of visitors in summer to picnic in what would have been just a moor beforehand.
In bowland forrest in summer, you can walk down the Access Road past numerous cars and families all enjoying the river and grassland but round two corners less than half a mile you are back in wild and lonely countryside.
Yes, there are very few places in Scotland as naturally beautiful as the West coast of Scotland but I dont think a scheme like this will detract from that, its a massive place! - my opinion.
