I was interested to read your piece on the MBA and the re-election of a new chairman. Where do I begin.
I have been in the MBA for 18 years, I am a successful retired company chairman from the housing industry and probably have all the skills relevant to be Chairman of MBA.
Thing is, I like it just how it is, or how it used to be, I dont want to run it, i just want to be in it, to pay my subs, donations etc. and help out at workparties when I can and of course use the remote shelters when im walking. For ever, people who have joined the MBA "leadership" have done it for free and it has worked. Alright, things are getting busy but there isnt a shortage of members.
What im jibbering on about is that Dr Scales (what are you a doctor of?) is not really in a position to appoint himself as a paid chairman, we all just vote against proffesional leadership, we arent in competition with anyone are we?
If there is one thing ive learnt in the industry is that the workers can have a voice.
I propose the following, if there are paid posts within the MBA then I will start a free of charge union for the members, we can veto pay rises, work parties and everything and how do we vote? By holding back on membership, workparties etc.
Now obviously this isnt going to happen so I tell you friends, make sure there are no paid managerial posts within the MBA, if someone doesnt want to do it for free, dont do it at all and I bet we find willing replacements for you.
