I have taken my collie cross up many mountains with the exception of very craggy ones and scrambly ridges. there are however the problems that there are often sheep on the lower reaches and sometime hill cattle - much worse. Even with the dog on a lead avoid hill cattle like the plague they don't run away, they chase you! Further up you are normally ok off the lead. Ignore signs that say 'no dogs', avoid lambing otherwise go for it, your dog will love it.
