Co-owner Charles Corbin outbid six others during an auction this morning for the 70-year-old operation. The sale price was $343,000. Fark reddit Facebook What are these? That had been his goal from the outset. His father founded the business on edge of Lake Okeechobee, and it became a well-known destination for anglers throughout the nation and even abroad. Eventually Corbin and his brother, Gordon, took over. But after Gordon died in late 2004 his wife, Karen, inherited his half of the business. She didn't want to continue with it, and didn't agree with the price Charles Gordon offered to buy her out. Today's auction was a way to settle the situation. Forty people had applied for information about the auction, which required bidders to arrive with a $10,000 deposit check. The seven bidders - including the co-owner - all hailed from Palm Beach County.
