Posted by Destiny on November 26, 2006, 1:25 pm, in reply to "Re: "Mission Accomplished"" Yes, I have indeed come around to your way of thinking regarding the uselessness of waiting for either political party to give a crap about the wishes of the people they're supposed to be representing. Overall I think this is good, though, as long as enough people also come to this realization, and begin to take responsibility for taking the country back from those who have stolen it. Happy to hear you're doing well. Seems we're entering a phase in our lives that perhaps isn't so bad as I once feared it might be. When the ex and I parted ways I decided I would be happier living near my children and grandchildren, since I no longer have any family in California. I now live in Arkansas and spend most weekends in Oklahoma, when I'm not going camping in one state or the other or visiting my siblings, who also live out here now (don't ask me how this happened, I'm still blown away). Life is full of surprises. I'm planning to travel to various parts of Arkansas and Oklahoma, and to Missouri, in the near future, to learn more about my family history, which I have beeen researching for years. Life is good. --Previous Message--

Happy to see that the removal of politial donations at least got on the ballot, and that other states have already voted in the measure. Hoping that Californians see the light and the rest of the states as well.
: 89 was the Prop to remove political donations
: and give all candidates a political
: allowance. Arizona and Mass, I think, have
: passed it but Its a little new yet to know
: just how effective it is.
: I too have lost most of my interest in
: "debate" after deciding that
: debate had little to nothing to do with
: forum posting. In fact, including this one,
: you could probably count my posts on one
: hand over the last two years.
: But, glad to see your coming around to my
: way of thinking as to the worthiness of our
: political parties.
: My life is good. At 59 all I really have to
: worry about is hair migrating from my scalp
: to my ears and eyebrows. Its good that you
: have mellowed. We may be the last generation
: allowed to do so in our dotage.

: I don't believe anything will change unless
: massive public pressure is brought to bear
: on both parties. Voters are being ignored.
: Neither party cares what is in our best
: interests. I don't call myself a democrat
: any longer, because I'm just as unhappy or
: even more unhappy with democrats than
: republicans for their role in taking this
: country down the rat hole. The only thing
: left to do, and this is probably a good
: thing, is for the American public to take
: actions on their own to force both parties
: to do what they are supposed to be doing,
: heeding the voices of average Americans and
: looking after
: our interests rather than their own and
: those of wealthy corporations. Their egos
: are out of control. They won't stop
: themselves from taking us down the road to
: hell unless they must. It is our job to
: make them stop and pay attention and get to
: work fixing what they've broken.
:
: In answer to your question about prop 89,
: I'm no longer a California resident, and
: sorry to say that I don't know what prop 89
: was about.
:
: Over the past two years I have changed just
: about everything in my life, including my
: state
: of residence, and I haven't been the
: political junkie I used to be. Haven't had
: the time and my attention has been
: elsewhere.
:
: I'm content and optimistic these days.
: Thanks for asking. Hope you are well and
: happy also.

: Because I see nothing but business as usual.
: Oh, a lot of lip service, but thats only to
: fool ourselves or the other guy but nothing
: changes. Even your comments are just lip
: service. Think about the times you have
: heard this sort of thing and then compare it
: to the number of times things actually
: changed; x+0 = 0. In the context of this
: thread your comment merely means the other
: crooks (that would be your Dem politicians)
: temporarily have the upper hand over the
: other crooks (that would be the GOP).
: Your a Calif resident, tell me did you vote
: for prop 89? Now thats a change for the
: better but since both political parties (a
: glaring reason to support it) were against
: it, the sheep voted it down. So, I just
: wondered what made you believe that things
: were not going to continue business as
: usual.
:
: How are you by the way? Thought you had
: given up on us.

: Internet readings, letters to the editor in
: my
: local newspaper, every poll leading up to
: the elections, everything I'm hearing from
: people (democrat and republican) I come into
: contact with nearly every day, including
: friends, acquaintences, co-workers and
: strangers.
:
: Why do you ask?

: "Democrats were not elected to pacify
: the
: public with raises in the minimum wage and
: other token changes while otherwise
: continuing business as usual."
: You base this statement on???????

: Democrats haven't fought very hard against
: Bush. They've pretty much rubber stamped
: his policies as much as Republicans. The
: people are left with no real representation
: in government. If some semblance of
: democracy is to make a comeback, it is the
: American people like you amd me who must
: pressure officials to do their job, to
: follow up on the wishes and interests
: expressed in the elections. Democrats were
: not elected to pacify the public with raises
: in the minimum wage and other token changes
: while otherwise continuing business as
: usual.

: Thanks George, all your crap backfired and
: you
: finally accomplished a mission too bad it
: was for the democratic party.
