The Texas 22 nd congressional district will be holding the Primary Elections on March 4th, 2008. The constituency is in great need for better governance. It hopes to achieve this through a new leadership and new ideas. The district needs a dynamic and pro-active government. There are a number of issues which remain unsolved. These issues present themselves in the form of illegal immigrants, higher taxes, wasteful spending on the part of the government etc. Only a person who has been a resident of Texas can evaluate these problems and work towards solving these. It has to be someone who can share the concerns and hopes of the district and whose loyalties are for the district itself.
This year the candidates standing for election for this seat include known names. One of the strong contenders for the seat is Texas’s very own leader Dean Hrbacek. Dean is a fourth-generation Texan who has lived in this district for quiet long. Dean is the former Sugar Land Mayor and Councilman who has been credited with remarkable feats like lowering the property taxes of the families in Sugar land by 33%, bringing the University of Houston at Sugar Land, surface water transition, expansion of I-59, Town Square etc. among many others.
As the country goes for the election, more and more importance is being placed on the need for change. It is high time that the governance is shifted to a new leadership from the hands of lobbyists and insiders. All this can be achieved through the republican ideologies which support a conservative platform with further foundations in economic liberalism and social conservatism. The party generally supports lower taxes and limited government in most economic areas allowing for more economic freedom.
