Posted by Sabrina We stopped by the Whaley House to walk around the exterior and the sight of it made my heart sink. I noticed strands of yellow Caution tape all over the back staircase. The guy in the museum house next door said it's because the stairs are falling apart and are unsafe to access. That made me so sad. Some of the green shutters are off their hinges, too, giving the house a real haunted and abandoned look. Very sad. Later on, I chatted with a new employee from Old Town Trolley Tours near Twiggs St. He told me about some of the ghost tours that started up after G&G closed down. They're plain horrendous! The guides don't know that much of the town's history and they often pretend ghostly sounds go off to make their tour more exciting. I hope those tours are free and they just make money on tips. I've toured Villa Montezuma during the day, and of course, the Whaley House. Sometime, when we're visiting San D on a slow day, I'd like to tour the William Heath Davis House from top to bottom. I've only been in there during G&G and have never seen the upper level. But, getting back to Old Town, The whole area seems so quiet now. It seems like not very many people come there as before. Might have been just because it was a Sunday, but then again, who knows? Sabrina

Hello, everyone,
Thought I'd report a short and simple visit Mom and I took to Old Town. We went down on January 29, the same day we did Ghosts & Gravestones a year ago. We had lunch at Acapulco (finally found an entree to eat that wasn't spicy!) and then walked around the streets.
