Posted by Jonquil I can see why they don't take you inside, I can't imnagine how they could give you a tour with all those other people crowding around goofing off in there and all the noise and flashes going off from all the cameras. We started our tour on board this very cool black stretch limo bus with leather couches and even they provide complimentary beverages like wine, margaritas, sodas and waters and such. It was VERY swanky! The two tour guides were dressed in dashing 1800's clothing and were extremely knowledgeable and also very funny. There was a large screen video to accompany the speeches and show us where we were going next, and we went to some very creepy places! We boarded the haunted Star of India ship, also were in the Gaslamp Quarter and Horton Grand Hotel and William Heath Davis house (it was used as hospital, lots of people died there, dark and creepy) Villa Montezuma (but we couldn't go in there they are renovating or something). Also we stopped for a break at this cool retro coffee shop for treats and the bathroom, which I totally needed! And btw they made the best mocha I have ever had. I can't remember the name of the shop though. Then we went back to Old Town and toured the Plaza area, the Estudillo and other houses. It was very dark and quiet and creepy down there. You almost expected the people who used to live there to walk right past you! I liked the quiet and dark aspect, not like down the street at the Whaley house where there's all those bars and all that noise. I have to say I HIGHLY recommend this tour even though it doesn't go inside the Whaley house. If you like the Whaley House you will like all the other places on this tour too! It was neat to see all these other places just as beautiful and mysterious and I am glad there's more than one haunted place in San Diego to explore! Plus you don't have to worry about your pictures capturing dozens of flashes from other peoples cameras. BTW it's not really a tour for little kids. I think I liked that the best! No screaming and crying and whining kids interrupting! --Previous Message--

Hi! I just went on the new Ghostly Tours in History and it was awesome! No, they don't take you inside the Whaley house but they will take you in the yard and talk about it, and if you want to you can go pay the fee to go in yourself.
: You know, I understand the word around is the
: Whaley house would costs 10 more dollars and
: they would add that on the tour price, but
: if you go in, you only get the
: "self-guided" tour. Nobody tells
: you anything, they just make sure you dont
: steal or something. You dont get to find out
: all the spookey stories and stuff. I guess
: they could tell you about it outside, but
: when I heard them the other night, they
: already do. Sooo, yeah its a downer that
: you don't go in, but the way it is, I like
: it better, I mean, this way I get to decide
: if I want to spend that extra $10 to go in.
: Oh, and when I went on that Ghost Hunter (if
: you can call it that) tour, he didn't go in
: the whaley, he just stood on the sidewalk
: out back, kinda boring...

: How come this tour doesn't go inside the
: Whaley House? At least the Ghost &
: Gravestone tour got to go inside. There's a
: ghost walking tour at night and they do the
: Whaley House. Will it be added on later?
: Because that would make it well worth it.
