To answer this, one first must accept the presence of discarnates or haunts. For the sake of argument, let's do that very thing.
Thomas Whaley and Anna Whaley were firey individuals with quite different temperaments. Reading their journals, which now seem misplaced, I was struck with this personal dichotomy. Thomas was very proud of this first house. He was forced to travel, and it seemed every time he left, something bad happened. Anna wasn't terribly fond of the local Indians who peeked in the windows in the early days. Over time they both came to find the place agreeable, despite the hard times. I truly believe that at least for Thomas, this house is his greatest achievement, he takes great pride in it, and honestly is both curious and caring of those who enter. Anna is more protective it seems. We had several control phenomena that were never publicly published so we could see if they would recur. They did. We chose these as they were somewhat bizarre, not the type of thing you would just dream up about your everyday haunted site. All these things led me then and continue to lead me to believe there is viable activity in that house because of a supreme desire to be known, to be recognized and most of all to try in some way to ensure the place is taken care of appropriately.
: : I know that most people will say the haunted
: part of the Whaley House is what interests
: them... but is there anything more to that
: interest? Ever curious as to why they haunt
: the Whaley House?
