Lu, sounds like you made a wise decision for yourself. I also had a double mastectomy(August 2011) and feel that was the right decision for me.
Like you, I'm the one that holds everything together but now I've stepped back and let others take charge and I feel so much better!
Stress comes with being the one that holds it together for everyone and for me, I didn't need that on top of everything else.
How many siblings do you have? I'm assuming that you help also with your elderly Mom? Mine is 83 yrs old and that is another thing I've stepped back from doing so much of...there is 6 of us kids. Hugs,Ruby from Indiana
