I met a wonderful woman the same week I was diagnosed. I wondered into a rock/gift shop in Shady Cove, Oregon and the woman behind the counter, instead of asking me, "Hi, how are you?", the typical question for which I was prepared to say, "Fine" - asked me, "How is life treating you?" I lost it. Turns out she is a many, many year surivor of breast cancer. She shared her experience with me of initially having one boob. She said prothesis were hot and uncomfortable, so she really didn't wear them. She soon tired of "one boob flopping" while she ran, and elected to have the other removed. She was perfectly happy and living well, no boobs. My guess is that she was in her 70's.
