The PET scan seems to be a very individual thing: Some MDs request it and some don't. The bone scan is to determine your bone density, to determine how strong your bones are and possibly so they can get a baseline reading. The PET scan is to determine if you have other tumors elsewhere in your body; however, it will not determine if you have, say, stray malignant cells, just if there are actual tumors. I think the real question is: DO YOU want a PET scan? Will it give you reassurance to have one? If so, I would discuss that w/ the onc. and request it. Hope that helps.
