Hi Kathy,
Thank heavens for vacations!!! So happy you were able to get away for awhile with your family! I leave for Florida tomorrow for 2 wonderful weeks in the sun and sand!!! Can't wait!
You are the only one that can decide on a single or double. I went double even though the right breast had no cancer because I didn't want any more tests and biopsies. Also I figured if they did both I could just heal all at once instead of doing it over again if they found cancer in the other one later on. Pro active I guess.
As far as preparations. Make sure you have a couple of shirts you can button because it's hard to lift your arms over your head for awhile.
You may want to sleep in a reclyner for awhile. I had to for a few weeks because I couldn't sleep on my side due to the drains.
Try to get a camisole with pockets for the drains. They are very comfy. At least they were for me.
I believe my biggest fear before surgery was "how much pain am I going to be in when I wake up?" I can honestly say that I was not in any pain when I woke up. But you will get pain meds for when you go home and you should take them whenever you need them.
Praying for a speedy recovery...
Hugs,
Roseanne
