I strongly agree with the others. Please do NOT wait 6 months. I would definitely get a second opinion from a medical oncologist. I would ask him/her to biopsy every one of the 5 masses. Do keep in mind that all you know at this point is you have 5 masses in the right breast. You will not know if they are benign or malignant until they are biopsied. Sometimes not knowing causes more anxiety than knowing, even if the knowing results in malignancy.
As far as the Xanax, I would not hesitate to take it. I'm sure it's a small dose. You cannot get addicted unless you increase it over a period of months. If you need it, take and know that it will help you get through this trying time.
I'm sorry for all you're going through. Please hang in there and let us know what happens with this.
