Hi Ellen,
I too only had surgery and radiation, no chemo. Long hours of sleep just did not help the fatique after radiation. I started exercising and it helped a lot. Exercising has no side effect and it helps reduce chances of recurrence. Psychologically I feel more in control of my life after the whirlwind attack of BC diagnosis and the treatments. Besides, since my radiation started, I started to feel some discomfort in my upper arm due to removal of lymph nodes. My surgeon told me that it usually takes 1 year for a full recovery but the patients who exercise usually recover faster. By exercising the discomfort went away in just 8 months. The first 15 min is the most difficult but after that I start to enjoy it. You may as well start with some light exercise first. Beat the fatique & get back your normal life soonest!
