I was on blood thinners for a little over a year and even with blood as liquid as water, there where times when my nurses couldn't get a blood draw from my port. They always had me do these funny positions with my arms and head to try to get the blood pumping. On those occassions when they couldn't get the blood draw it was usually because I was dehydrated. Did you drink plenty of fluids the day before and morning of the draw?
