Hi Emile, I found this site tonight and read your post. Sounds like you have been through alot of stress over the last 6 or so years. It does feel almost surreal to go through so many procedures, opinions, doctors, research, and on and on. I was diagnosed with DCIS August, 2004. After a stereotactic biopsy found high grade DCIS (comedonecrosis) in one area and low grade DCIS in another area, with atypical hyperplasia, and a mammogram showing lots of microcalcifications throughout my right breast, my surgeon did a wide excision biopsy. The total DICS was 3.9mm, which seems like a pretty tiny area. I had 32 sessions of radiation and was halfway through, when a mammogram was ordered that showed "suspiciousmicrocalcifications" still present. My surgeon now says I have to have a masectomy as it is too great a risk to just finish the radiation. I'm exploring options and feeling pretty numb. I was actually trying to figure out whether I should just wait and see when I read your post. Do you mind sharing how you found the stage 1 & 2 cancer, and any other information you provide would be greatly appreciated. I am 51 years old. I am really having trouble getting comfortable with this whole process. I'm considering a tram flap for reconstruction rather than an implant. One day I'm ready to go ahead, the next day, I'm on the internet searching for information, as I'm just not sure what to do. I am so sorry you have gone through this. It is definitely a life changing event. Hope to hear back. Nancy Schimp
