hi terri, i just posted above that i am from long island (it seems like all my friends have breast cancer). 4 year survivor, bilateral breast cancer, invasive on right and dcis on left. chemo and rads to Right breast only - the dcis breast was not radiated. i was on tamoxifen for about 8 months got terribly depressed, stopped the tamox depression got better. started on arimidex - not sure why, but when article came out about aromasin being used after tamox and getting good results they switched me to aromasin, which i am taking now. i get very bad joint pains (on top of which i am recovering from a broken ankle, so it seems like i hurt all over), moderate hot flashes, esp at night and that is about it. remember aromasin cant be used if you still get your periods. speak to your doctor about taking a 2 week break and see if side effects go away. also you need to weigh risks and benefits of stopping the tamox. in your case its to prevent further breast cancers as you are higher risk. i'm not sure of the statistics ask your doctor, but i think it makes your risk of breast ca 1/2 as much as the rest of the population. see what your doctor says and asks for numbers. also how old are you???
i've got lots more i could say, feel free to email.
terri
