Hi, my name is Robin. I live in Silver City, NM. I have not been diagnosed with BC yet, but I have a strong family history. My Mom has lost both breats to cancer, 7 years apart (its been 7 years since 2nd), her Mother, and one sister lost a breast. I started getting mamos at age 30. They have been following a mass for the last 14 years. About 2 weeks ago, my arm brushed up against my breast and it felt like something was there. A couple of days later my breast felt swollen and very tender. The next day the other one felt the same way. Now most of the time they feel like they are engorged, but feel soft. I went on Monday (8-29) to the dr. She thinks there may be 2 lumps and I am scheduled for a mamo on 9-8-05. My dr thinks it could be cystic. She also told me to cut my hormone med in half. My Mom recomended that I stop the hormone med totally. At this point, I am not really scared of BC, but the possibility of surgery is totally scarry for me because I have had over 14 surgeries. The thought of an IV is very scarry for me. I have overly sensitive veins and my IVs always backs up on me, so they have to do it again.
