I remember the incident. I think it took place in 1960, the ship had been on patrol looking for gun runners between Cuba and Honduras, when we went into Gitmo to refuel at night and left before daylite, as we were standing in the chowline for breakfast this bright green P 51D Mustang came up over our fantail and just missed the mast, at 400+ he was fully armed with bombs and rockets. I stil can see the yellow dragon on the fusalage.
