FORMER Woodley Sports striker Liam Dickinson has truly burst onto the
Football League scene after transferring to Stockport County just before
Christmas.
Dickinson, aged 20, has become an instant hit with the Hatters faithful
after banging in five goals during three starts and five substitute
appearances.
The lanky hit-man has spearheaded County's revival at the bottom of League
Two under new manager Jim Gannon.
He scored two superb goals in the recent 2-1 win at Chester City, and
already the rumours have started about potential interest from clubs much
higher up the Football League.
Woodley's club secretary Tony Whiteside said: "Liam has taken his
opportunity very well and it goes to show that there is local grown quality
around if the League club's care to take a look"
Another ex-Woodley ace, Simon Hackney, has also starred for League Two
high-fliers Carlisle United this season. He moved to Brunton Park last
January and has recently signed a new, extended contract with Paul Simpson's
side and on the final day of the season on the 6th May, the two will come
face to face when Stockport County host Carlisle United at Edgeley Park.
