What about Keir Starmer advising Israel not to carry out another bloodbath against the Palestinian people? What about saying, enough is enough, now. The Israeli cannot slaughter the Palestinians into surrendering on Israel's terms or force them to run for their lives anymore, because they have nowhere to run to. Old ladies still have the keys to their homes from the Nakba in 1947. I've actually seen one and held it in my hands. A key from a farm. A historical treasure. A precious memory from a farmhouse now wiped off the map. The woman gave the key to her daughter, who gave it to her daughter, who now lives and works as a highly paid dentist in a western country, but she hasn't forgotten the key and what it symbolizes.
One would think that Jews, of all people, would understand this longing about returning home. If the Jews can keep this dream alive for two thousand years, why do they imagine the Palestinians won't?
I once heard a very liberal Jewish woman talking about 'peace' in the Middle East. She wondered whether this was a good idea for Jewish people in the long run. Wouldn't peace mean that her daughter might marry a Palestinian, that thousands might, and why would happen to the Zionist dream then?
