btw, I meant to put 'foreign' in inverted commas when I said 'foreign sounding names' - point being that they would sound 'foreign' to a BBC audience trained in jingoism. Admittedly many of the Hebrew names might sound equally 'foreign' to the same people... but the inclusion of the photos and humanising descriptions is IMO a clear attempt to steer empathy towards these people at the expense of the Palestinians and even the Thai alleged hostages at the end of the article.
