It is legitimate to target the instruments of occupation. That is, the personnel - IDF etc - and infrastructure that maintain the occupation.
It is not legitimate to deliberately target civilians, take hostages, kill prisoners. It is certainly wrong to kill, torture, rape and mutilate civilians. These would constitute war crimes or crimes against humanity.
The Palestinians have tried other forms of resistance. They tried the peaceful 'march of return' and were slaughtered and wounded for their pains.
They have called for BDS to put pressure on Israel but are ignored.
This is not just the fault of Israel.
As much, if not more so, it is the fault of the 'international community' i.e. the west, and particularly the self-appointed hegemon, the US, and the UK, which has a historical responsibility.
It is about geopolitics - construed materially and/or ideologically.
If nothing else, the events of the last weeks have brought global attention, at last, to the plight of the Palestinians.
It is beyond sad that this attention has been bought at expense of the wholesale genocidal slaughter and life-altering injuries of so many Palestinian innocents.
How long before Israel is forced to cease the killing and a satisfactory resolution achieved?
