The news coverage of Palestinian and Israeli deaths since 7 Oct 23 has been analysed in detail by Jan Lietava and Dana Najjar. It shows a very clear bias in the BBC's reporting that minimises the Palestinian deaths in favour of Israeli deaths. This will have a direct effect on the public perception of the severity of what is happening in Gaza and the West Bank.
Their full methodology is here: https://github.com/liet-git/bbc-bias but data illustrations of the findings have been produced by Pulitzer prize winning journalist Mona Chalabi: https://twitter.com/MonaChalabi/status/1740767114754232703?t=xKhZrUF9hots44TfrNxy5g&s=19
Aside from the sheer disparity in the number of reports, one particularly significant finding is that the words "slaughter(ed)" and "massacre(d)" have been used over 40 times to describe Israelis been killed, but only once to describe Palestinians been killed.
Had the BBC responded to this analysis? What plans are in place to rectify this bias?
