The essential workers, as he defines it, cannot afford to live here. Commuting is the only option from further away. At London's minimum wage it's a very tough life.
Those expecting our cities to collapse in a single, catastrophic crash will likely be disappointed.
I agree. There is only so much profit you can squeeze out of populace and so it goes until the breaking point.
