Israeli army radio reported on the morning of 7 March that four brigade
commanders, 39 platoon commanders, 13 company commanders, six lieutenant
colonels, and one staff officer were among them.
Hebrew media also reported that seven additional reserve commanders are among
those killed and that the military is taking steps to refill its ranks.
"We paid heavy prices and lost leaders and fighters," Israeli Army Chief of
Staff Herzi Halevi said on 6 March.
Ynet reported on 5 March that 586 Israeli soldiers have been killed since 7
October, including 246 since the start of ground operations on 27 October.
Over 3,000 have been wounded since the war began, with 475 of them in serious
condition. Ynet added that over 1,400 were wounded since the beginning of the
ground war, including over 300 in serious condition.
