"but then we need to enquire, why so many, allegedly well educated people, particularly under 35 years of age are entranced by this craziness."
What appears obvious is that its not autocthonic in origin: it neither grew by local or plebian demand: its top down stuff essentially imported from the US Democratic party.
Unwilling to embrace egalitarianism the Democrats had instead adapted a fictional veneer in "identity politics" and sold it to US society trained to be suspicious of socialism but strong in upholding a cult of the idividual.
Once it washed ashore here on the pop- transatlantic tide it found a willing embrace in an otherwise moribund political soil and with no natural predators seeded freely.
Having latched onto feminism through the "Me-too" hook: a vanguard of irrationality be means of "positive discrimination" it had before it a model which removed the protective safeguard of "evidence" and moreover weighed one truth of more value than another purely by means of sex or gender.
That out the way, other irrationality could thrive and all kinds of other emotional arguments hold sway.
Mere hurt feelings could become crime...vocabulary could be policed..subjective assessments could create such madness as the Orwelian notion of " hate crime" in which having been subjectively deemed to have the "wrong feelings" could be criminalised & legislated against, yet "Feeling like a Woman " now made you one in law...despite all the physical evidence asserting the contrary. A Pandoras box has been opened.
Ah well... Brave New World and all that...time I were off to the Feelies.
