In a 2008 survey of Israeli attitudes to immigration, "they must be nuts" was a common response to the idea of Jews moving to Israel from countries like the USA or UK where they face no persecution. Disenchantment with many aspects of life in Israel seems far more common than is acknowledged outside the country.
All of this is before the current violence. Many Israelis who have dual nationality must be considering the wisdom of remaining in a country where the failures of October 7th demonstrated that Israel is not a safe place for Jews. This is especially true for those with families.
