OK - it may not be a geopolitical news tragedy but I feel the victims deserve at least a "passing" mention here.
But I'll try to give it a little geopolitical edge/spin all the same.
Here goes - deep breath:
Deep Sea Implosions versus Explosions
When your intention is merely to explore the wreck of an unsinkable ship - you perish hellishly. The Titan victims' deaths were/are as gruesomely and titanically ironic as it gets(as no media reports have mentioned).
By contrast - if your mission is to innocently blow up a pipeline and cripple the German/EU economy everything runs smoothly.
Yep - there must be a God then. One possessed of a gruesomely divine sense of irony.
The FT has no problems credibly reporting THIS submersible's mission and the fateful outcome:
