This is the biggest issue I see. Prigozhin is definitely backed by a more hawkish, nationalist crowd so if he does prevail that would surely bring war with NATO, aka WWIII, closer. From the early reports he seemed to have gone steaming in and then looked behind him and didn't see the promised hordes backing him up but it's still early and good information is surely at a premium. There are some nightmare scenarios you can think of; NATO decide to take advantage of the supposed withdrawal of Wagner forces and push the AFU to attack and there's a more "shock and awe" type reaction from Russia because they can't play the long game right now and it all slides out of control. Very worrying. It's notable that all the "insiders" Berletic, Duran, etc. had no idea whatsoever about this. The credence given to their every statement is a bit naive. They are generally more honest than the western m.s.m. but they are still being fed information through undisclosed sources and repeating it. Just because it's not the U.S. imperial p.o.v. doesn't make it gospel.
