Civil wars are complex things. Look at Northern Ireland. Most Ukrainians never wanted to enter a conflict with Russian in the first place. Zelensky was elected as the 'peace candidate' with overwhelming support from ordinary Ukrainians. That's without the votes from the East who are mostly ethnic Russians. Factor them in and he would have recieved over 90% support for peace, as the population of Ukraine is mixed and intertwined, having been together for centuries. But the extreme nationalists right, the racist, fascist right, are another story. They, though probably far, far, less than 10% of the population, are the one's supported by the West, who formed an unholy alliance with them, and gave them massive power in Ukraine far exceeding their real support and numbers, because they were eager and willing to fight the Russians. First the ethnic Russians inside Ukraine in a civil war, and then the Russians when they were forced to intervene, finally, after over 10,000 Russians were killed over a ten year period in Donbass. So, what's happening in Ukraine, is really the exact opposite of what our media/political class say it is.
