Had a look at the comments under ML's latest climate-related retweets. Here's one for the record, nearly 100% aggressive trolling, refusal to engage with the substance of the argument, and they're all like that. Only deleted the ones with no message. Clicked on a few of the profiles and only thought one looked like a possible bot: https://nitter.moomoo.me/styz0r, though AI has been coming on in leaps & bounds, so they say... Read it and weep:

Has human-caused climate change contributed to the fires in Rhodes?

    Yes

"prevalence and extremity of fire weather has already emerged beyond its pre-industrial variability in the Mediterranean due to climate change"

    - our paper led by @Jones_MattW

    Prof Richard Betts @richardabetts

The source of ignition - accident, arson, etc - is not the point here. Once a fire starts, for whatever reason, if the landscape in tinder-dry due to baking hot weather then it is far more likely to become severe
And extremely hot, dry weather is happening more often in the Med

I presume it mentions that the IPCC doesn't have High Confidence that weather conditions for wildfire have become more "probable" in Southern Europe and how austerity has meant that Greek Forestry Authorities have been denied requested management budgets?

So it doesn't mention it, even though it could have, and neither does it mention anything about Greece's historically dysfunctional forestry management systems.

When you create plastic terms, what do you expect?
    The fact, however, remains.
Richard will also not rush to point out that UNDRR says cold weather kills multiple more people than warm weather globally, or that there's less fire in the global landscape today than centuries ago.

    Stephen Meeus @StephenMeeus
Exactly. I lived in Southern California for many years and saw first-hand what the lack of brush control results in.
We saw the same in Australia a few years ago.

Lovely graphics! Well, you've won me over. I'll sell my 4x4 this week and get rid of our gas boiler. And no barbeques from now on. Just in case any hot ashes land in this dry, barren UK landscape and cause a wildfire in London. Just Pop Boils!

No different to the flooding in Rhodes in 96 the fires in 97/98 really.

    CotswoldsBloke @CotswoldsGeezer
Utter bollocks. Even if the average temperature is a degree or so higher it has no bearing whatsoever on forest fires which have always happened, lately because of (deliberate) failure to clear brush and Just Stop Oil wankers setting it alight to further their shill.

    Fire weather?
I love a good fire on a cool night or on a warm night.
What is the perfect fire weather? Guess it’s a personal preference but when there shit to burn, a good fire will get it done.
Enjoy the fire weather you’re having!

    John Meredith @TorquilMacneil
Curious that fire weather is increasing but less land is being burned. Why is the African Savannah less fire prone now?

Absolutely right, when someone starts a fire by accident or on purpose we cannot blame anyone else. Due to carbon emissions in the UK? The answer is very likely to be no.

Did human-caused climate change contribute to the great fire of London?

Dominar Bonus Hole the 14th @THATCH_ARISES
We know these same areas have been hotter in the past. We didn't run out and make sacrifices to the weather gods to change it then, and sacrificing all of modernity won't change it now.

    ctsbillc @ctsbillc
Well professor, seems Europe is having an average season, though there were some early fires started by folks who of course had nothing to do with the "climate emergency" dogma.
And long-term worldwide wildfires are still dropping.

    From the paper:
1️⃣Global annual burned area has plummeted in the modern era.
2️⃣this is certainly true locally in the Mediterranean.
3️⃣"Fire weather" isn't in the top four reasons for wildfires.
