Gonzalo Lira kicked this one off by making a whole video attacking Scott Ritter a few months ago.
Ritter twists a few things in the “Ask the inspector” video above, regarding what Lira claimed in his video. So the “well is poisoned” by personal animosity, which I guess started with Lira. This does not discount Ritter’s claims. But the claim “nothing about Lira’s story makes sense” seems a stretch to me: It seems to make sense if the the SBU wants to “off” Lira but can’t because he is a US citizen and by no means anonymous.
Offing active journalists who are US citizens can be done (e.g. with a bonesaw), but the problem takes longer to go away.
Lira and Ritter are very specific in attacking each other, neither is part of a larger consensus on the other. This is not a Paul Mason flow chart situation.
