The day after he died, the UK abstained on a UN Security Council emergency ceasefire motion and the US vetoed it. They were reportedly the only members not to support it.
The UK is really a shitty little catamite of a country.
Re: Celtic fans salute Gaza poet, murdered by Israel, who paid tribute to them
There was lots of social media stuff about the execrable tool of the apartheid state Bari Weiss being complicit in this as she had been tweeting drawing attention to things he had said. He replied by saying if he was assassinated he would blame her and her ilk.
...no amount of cajolery, and no attempts at ethical or social seduction, can eradicate from my heart a deep burning hatred for the Tory Party...So far as I am concerned they are lower than vermin.

By Refaat Alareer Mr. Alareer lives in Gaza and is the editor of “Gaza Writes Back,” a collection of short stories. ... On Tuesday, Linah asked her question again after my wife and I didn’t answer it the first time: Can they destroy our building if the power is out? I wanted to say: “Yes, little Linah, Israel can still destroy the beautiful al-Jawharah building, or any of our buildings, even in the darkness. Each of our homes is full of tales and stories that must be told. Our homes annoy the Israeli war machine, mock it, haunt it, even in the darkness. It can’t abide their existence. And, with American tax dollars and international immunity, Israel presumably will go on destroying our buildings until there is nothing left.” But I can’t tell Linah any of this. So I lie: “No, sweetie. They can’t see us in the dark.”

> America’s media and political class is analyzing, debating, and shaping a narrative in Gaza that’s entirely different from the one being discussed in Israeli media and among Israeli political leaders. As the Western system, that's ruled for a few centuries, is put under increasing pressure from various quarters; I think 'liberal democracy' will whither away, it's being replaced by a new varient of fascism, which seems to be the West's default mode when it's in trouble.
Incredibly sad and to hear those missiles striking with that gruesome din near to where he is speaking from is hair-raising. And still the US vetoes a ceasefire and allows the Zionazis to carry on murdering untold numbers of human beings. As the bard said "Hell is empty and all the devils are here".
'The day before yesterday, Refaat received a phone call from the Israeli intelligence about locating him in the school where he took refuge. They informed him that they were going to kill him. The f*ing sadistic fascist ghouls. Imagine getting a call like that when in a school. It must have been calculated to get him to leave so that 'only' some of his family members would get killed. They must be tracking the phones of all the targets on their kill lists and just waiting for the moment to blast them to pieces with just the right amount of collateral damage. Calibrating their terrorism to inflict the maximum torment but not raise the ire of international opinion to the point that their handlers tell them to stop. The further we let Israel push this the more nightmarish the future for all of us in the years to come. All the governments are keeping a close eye on how this plays out to see exactly how far they can go when the time comes to brutalise their own populations.
Beyond sickening. I hope the kite poem comes true some day soon...
