The first part is true but Monson plays that defense against every team and it's proven with 10 years of data NOT to work.
Dave, I think one of the reasons is that the SDSU players can beat our guys 1-on-1 almost all of the time so we have to play a ton of "help defense". SDSU does not have that problem.
Sure, there is a talent difference, but more than that, SDSU really plays defense. LB players have to play Monson's crazy defense that allows open threes and puts Big men out of rebound position. Apparently that will never change is is just too much to overcome.
There are a few major differences between our teams:
1. It appears their team actually embraces strength and conditioning.
2. Their players can actually create their own shots.
3. They get at least 2 times as many open shots by running their offense.
