Re: You Out Lasted Many of Us
Are you saying that you dropped your WBB season tickets??? If so why. They are so much fun to watch and play with such passion!!! If I had to choose between MBB and WBB, I would certainly choose WBB!!!
I started with season tickets in 1980-81 (LB Arena). Ended after I got more interested in going to all of our women's hoops games during the Joan B era. I had season tix to the women's games for many years, even after JB left. Rejoined men's basketball season ticket fold in 1995-96. This is the first year I've not had season tickets since 1995-96. If I look into my crystal ball, I don't see myself inside of the Pyramid anytime soon unless our men's volleyball team is playing.
P.S. I will come back if given a reason. That reason would be enjoyment. I want to enjoy our games. We don't have to win them all to have them be enjoyable. Competitive is nice.
Yes, a change is needed and hopefully sooner than later. Giving CDM a 5 year extension was a big mistake in my opinion. Andy and probly other higher ups made this mistake so it's on all of them to do something to fix the mess we are in. Our current Warren Nolan rating is 237 and his end of season prediction is around 260. We are in a frustrating bind. I have had season tickets since Harrington's last season. Our last 3 coaches since Harrington have not delivered on the success the loyal diehards expect. This will likely be my last season going to games unless a change happens.
I would like to think that I am one of those "loyal posters", and I want you all to know that I am frustrated!!! Wish that I had an answer!!! With respect to MBB we have gotten ourselves into a "no man's land". We know that we need to make changes, but there are no funds to do so. Because the team is not performing to our expectations, the funding is probably getting even worse.
I am a Business major (a long time removed from my degree (1969)) and have many years of business experience. In the 1960's Douglas McGregor wrote a book called the Human Side of Enterprise. It basically brought Management Theory X and Y to the forefront. It talked about management by force, management by motivation, and the effects of "change"! All of this is still relevant today.
One of the things that I remember is that sometimes you could get a positive improvement by just making some simple change. There must be some change that we could make in our MBB program that could somehow change the negative downward trend that our MBB's program is currently in. I have made a couple of suggestions, but..
But to do nothing at this time does not seem reasonable. I have said many times that I do not pretend to have a magic solution! BUT we did make a change in WVB and we went on a winning streak. At this point, we are not going to lose a lot if a decision is made to make some sort of a change and it does not work out. But, if we do make a change and it starts to cause some improvement... It has been said many time that PROGRESS IS IMPOSSIBLE WITHOUT CHANGE!!!! Let's try to change something and see if we see some improvement!!!
I love LBS and have supported MY school for over 50 years, so I am not going to give up now in supporting our teams, but... CHANGE IS NECESSARY NOW!!!
Some of the loyal posters here say we will improve by conference play. The problem with that is the other conference teams will be improving as well. If we improve as much as the other BW teams, there is no net gain unless our coaching staff is so much better than those at the other BW teams.
After the Idaho game, I stated we will learn nothing from the UCLA game and that the next 6 games will tell us all we need to know. With one game to go of the 6, here is what we know:
Loss by 6 to Net ranking 206 Utah Valley.
Loss by 26 to Net ranking 97 Missouri State
Loss by 37 to Net ranking 198 Murray State
Win by 9 to 1-5 (their win was against Lake Erie College) Wright State
Loss by 25 to San Diego State
Failed to get to 50 points in two of the last three games.
Failed to shoot above 36% in 3 of the 5 games.
This is hands down the worst team of CDM's era. And yes that includes the 07-08 team that most of us give him a pass on. At least they had Donovan Morris and a young Plater.
There is just no way you can spin this beyond this beyond this team is beyond bad with zero signs of turning anything around.
