Re: Roster Losses
There are plenty of guys who know they are not pro material and who are really happy to have the scholarship. These players, in general, will be your role players on the team. But, looking at this year's stars, everything I heard back channel about Colin Slater has been what an awesome guy he is. I don't think you should draw anything negative about Murray because he is putting in for the draft. Players today often do this to go to the camps and get feedback on what needs work for the next level. Traore has appeared to be really terrific in both his body language and the one time I saw him in postgame. Roberts spent 5 years playing for the Beach. Joe Hampton, according to last chance U, had a pretty rough background. How wonderful that he seems to be on track with his life, earning a degree. He has the talent to earn some money playing basketball, I hope he can stay healthy long enough to cash some checks. I also haven't heard anything negative about Jones.
Yup, there will be exceptions where guys want to get the degree and are happy with their academic pursuit, but they will be few and far between now.
It's going to be holding a basic core and assimilating new players that makes the difference year to year.
Go Beach!!! Best of luck to the athletes leaving and look forward to the ones staying.

Student/Athletes no longer exist. NCAAM basketball serves the same purpose as prep schools, post grad prep schools, junior college, and the G League. They all provide ample playing time for prospects to showcase their abilities or decide that they do not have what it takes to play professionally. If they don't get playing time they move on. Sadly, none of these institutions provide skills sets outside of basketball.
So far we are losing Murray, Rhoden, Neal and Mansel.
