*I say 4-6 as it is pretty much a grantee that the Big West champ, MPSF champ, and two at large bids will be in the 15-20 schools that actually have a chance to win the NC. The EIVA and MIVA mostly seen a solid school that also has somewhat of a shot but occasionally there are upsets or down years for the major programs in those leagues and they send a team with no shot.
Also with a third at large bid that means some years the Big West would send three teams. Although that would be nice for the Big West I still think it is bad for the sport when all you have to do to make the NCAAT is finish in the top half of your conference.
Two at larges is the sweet spot as it almost always assures the top four teams a spot in the NCAAT. I mean unless 3 top 4 teams lose in their conference tourney which happened this year. But the vast majority of years there will only be 1-2 upsets in the conference tourneys not 3.
