Re: Starters Less Important With This Type of Depth
So, I personally think next year's squad looks promising; but, you guys seem really hyped on a number of players who have played one minute of D1 basketball. Hunter, Hart, Stroud, Ngoyi, and Polynice have not played one minute at this level. I know the bigs have nice size, but how many tall guys have we faced who can't play? I have high hopes, but thinking this is the deepest team ever seems to be wishful thinking. I have higher hopes for L Traore and Tsohonis, both have some D1 experience. Tsohonis has shown he can make an impact in the Pac12, I think he could be a star here. The same level of expectations for guys who have only played Juco or HS ball tend to be unfulfilled. Not that they wont grow into being contributors, just that it is likely to take a while.
with next years team we could play at time 4 guards and one big -- other times 3 guards and 2 bigs -- this team on paper has at least 9 or 10 players that could contribute with a good defense and scoring ability -- at least on paper we should be fighting for the top spot again next year -- GO 49ers
Yes Jones has earned the right to start. But we have so many pieces (on paper) for next year we should see a lot of folks with decent minutes. Jones may start and not get many more minutes than he got this year. Jadon's minutes depend upon the development of the rest of the squad.
The new folks are somewhat unknown to us. Jones is a known commodity and will be treated as one. Pencil him in at as a starter.
he certainly could start -- but with a deep bench and if they play an up tempo game he along with other players on the bench will get plenty of minutes --
Agree, Jones should start at the 2 or 3 slot.
No way is Jones not starting.
at first glance -- we should have a very strong bench and hopefully we play an up tempo at both ends of the court -- press press press -- it looks like we will have a lot of pieces to move around with -- we should be at least 10 or 11 players deep next year
pg - 6' murray
sg - 6'3" marcus
sf - 6'5" a traore
pf - 6'10" stroud or l traore
c - 6'11" chayce
Looking at the depth chart, here is what I see. Several of our players are able to play multiple positions, so I may list them under more than one slot.
PG: Murray, Tsohonis, Hunter, Hart
SG: Jones, Tsohonis, Hunter
SF: Jones, Rotegaard, A. Traore, George
PF: A. Traore, L. Traore, Stroud, Ngoyi, Rotegaard
C: L. Traore, Polynice, Stroud, Ngoyi, Yan
Not having seen most of these guys play, but knowing the value of at least some experience, potential starting lineup:
PF: A Traore
C: L Traore
