Wow, this has certainly caused a lively discussion.
I agree with what others have written, so I will limit my response to one issue: image.
I know VC offended some people but one thing I always liked about him was that he wanted LBSU to look like a first-rate division 1 program. We might not have the money or media coverage or fan support, but when we did get coverage or attendance, they saw a program that looked like it had its act together. And yes, that resulted in budget overruns, but it was a lot easier to be proud of the program when talking with friends who did not regularly take notice of LBSU athletics. Friends commented on how “fun” it was and compared the atmosphere to other programs that they were more familiar with other schools like UCLA and USC. But since Fee, they do not talk about LBSU and if they did and were honest, my friends would say how high schoolish we look.
One of my pet peeves is the new BEACH logo that looks so amateurish. We had BEACH in block letters on sweatshirts, how did simplifying the font and removing the middle bar of the A improve it. The old BEACH logo looked like it was written in the sand and had an association with the president that did more to raise the academic image of the school than anyone else (not that school tradition seems to mean anything to Fee). I have never understood why Fee is into spending money to make things worse.
As to the Prospector Pete: whether you see the mascot change as PC run amok or bigotry or just plain stupidity, it hurt. I am not sure what Fee could do about this, but he has to know that it put LBSU in a hole that he must find a way out of and that starts with valuing alumni and other supporters and not just our money.

What do you think the administration (athletic or academic) could do to get old donors back, or to attract new donors to support Long Beach State Athletics and the school in general? This is a serious question that has been posed to me by a couple of people and I am looking to put some suggestions together to give to the administration! Tell me what you think, and I will try to get your ideas to the right people. Please try to make your suggestions in some sort of a positive manner, rather than just trying to take shots at people. If you are on this board, I am guessing that you are as passionate about Long Beach State as I am. I have been asked for some ideas, and I am passing this request on to all of you! I have already give my 2 cents on about 5 items...
