We are ALL VERY PROUD of the Cup Accomplishment, and a 2nd place finish in Men's VB. Our comments are not related to what you say BB.
Please attempt to disconnect what our athletes accomplish from what our leadership is doing. I know that is difficult to do for some.
P.S. Smell the fire from our LEGENDARY Prospector's costume being burned on campus. IT STINKS SOMETHING AWFUL!
In many countries in the world YOU would be a criminal and get "special treatment" for saying such truthful things. THANK GOD for Freedom of Speech in the USA, the GREATEST country on this planet.
that is true for so many years -- even on this board and also the other board there were some who complained when we won the cup and as you say was the best program in this league -- BUT -- the problem is not in our winning or losing to me it is not the problem -- it is the top of the hill all the way down to the bottom - no real leadership, no real love for our very good past history of education and athletic programs -- they are destructors (D)( of the history of the university -- they took away pete, our great sports announcer, the statue of pete, changing our name from 40ers to beach (in the 90's the only 2 programs that were called "beach" were the womens volleyball team and our womens tennis team) and now as you have seen they are even trying to change the colors of the school ( uniforms are gray) and now our mascot from pete and jane to a neutered figment of someone's imagination, a neutered fish!! -- what they believe in, i do not know -- they seems too be only concerned in absolute control and do not want or accept any outside interference with any of their decisions -- ie angel game -- who ran it before and who is doing it now? -- no matter the outcome of their decision - they are in control -- they do not want a strong alumni association or any other organization on campus that they do not have complete control over -- -- STAND UP people -- we are a NINER NATION - not a s........ community -- november is coming
All the negativism just bugs me some time.
Like we won the Blue and Gold thing and the Commissioners Cup for being the most successful athletic department in the conference.
But no, that's no good because we lost in the National Championship game of the MVB tourney.
Nothing ever seems to be good enough for some people.
The numbers you state from Jeff is when the athletic department started selling as they have done so only for a few years. Alumni association ran the sales for longer. So the amount Jeff reports are a record for the "athletic department" but not a record historically. Sent out to find out how many the alumni association sold when they ran this promotion and the high was over 4,000 tickets sold.
I know this for a fact as I assisted in the many years when alumni ran the sales as was a volunteer like others at Angel Stadium.
But do not worry as a 49er that plenty to bitch about.....LBSU is a love/hate relationship for many of us.
But keep providing us the info we ask for as you are doing us a great service as our unofficial SID....
Wrong, the Angels game tickets have always been sold only through the ticket office.
Henceforth, who would know better the amount of tickets sold than Jeff Scott the ticket manager.
Fine something else to bitch about.
While close to 2,000 is a great amount of tickets sold that my memory recalls that when alumni association sold tickets for this event that sales were much higher. Would have to inquire further but still a good turnout Sat night.
Was told that Jeff Scott said that almost 2000 tickets were sold to Long Beach people to the Angel game.
And that is over 400 more than the previous high tickets sold.
