Re: Andy Fee leaving
It doesn't matter if you like Andy or not-he is gone. I would not have wanted his job the last few years. He was handed the position with Prospector Pete banned from campus. That eliminated a great amount of funding for the athletic department as donors jumped ship. Then Covid hit and it through atletics, in all schools, like a ship trying to stay afloat. Andy weathered all of that. I have been told that the coaches really liked him, and that is important for an AD. Now we have NIL and a new athletic director to break in. Good luck to Andy in his position at Washington-if they aren't part of the Big 10 he will again be in a position similiar to the burial of Pete.
As a vocal critic I still wish Andy and his family the absolute best.
At the same time, I have no faith in this search process if we end up where we did with Fee as the selection. Have a sinking feeling we will cheap out with another wide-eyed in over their head option. Such is the nature of being CSU I suppose.
Overall, I thought that Andy did a good job for Long Beach State and I wish him and his wife the very best in whatever they attempt in the future. I believe that he is heading to and job in the Northwest as an Assistant AD.
I am looking forward to hearing about the selection process for his replacement. At first blush, I think about Rob Clark (now at San Jose State) or Wayne Stickney (now with the Special Olympics). We will see what happens. As I have mentioned before, I think that this is going to become more and more our lot in life, to have an AD or a good young coach come to LBS. If they are successful here, it will be very easy for them to get a shot at a position at a higher level, athletic orientated, school!
Headed to the University if Washington.
Happy to see some change but cringing at what bull crap Jane will fill the spot with.
