5 million in budget for athletics 2022-2023 as only 2.0 percent of the entire schools annual budget.
Athletics - $169,446; to permanently fund positions that were hired with temporary funding whose roles are to keep student athlete health and wellness as a top priority within the department. https://www.csulb.edu/administration-finance/budget-planning-and-administration/2022-23-rpp-task-force-budget
I believe it's illegal to not use funds that are categorically designated. What likely happened ( don't know for sure) is she cut the athletic budget by a similar amount and then gave the CARES Act money to athletics so there is no net gain to athletics.
Have you heard of the CARES ACT. It was the act passed to help businesses, etc. during the COVID pandemic.
Well, Long Beach State was given $732,000.00 for athletics.
Madam C has an unrealistic, unknowledgeable understanding of athletic budgets. She hears the campus CFO Scott Apel continually hammer that athletic budgets need to be cut and that expectations need to be reshaped.
Anyway, he convinced Madam C to cover other campus expenses with the money. Needless to say hurting the athletics budget.
Guess who the acting AD reports to.
