The student that has the stuffed shark is one of two students that are in charge of the Sand Pit to get the crowd in that section to cheer. They work hard and are doing a good job although they have had nobody in that section yesterday as the students left town early.
Agree that the shark is attracting only the small kids that come over to take a picture. Not representing the program at all.
As for the new fight song that while I prefer Solid Men to the Front that this one is Ok if the band can play it properly. Glad the band showed up although still need some practice to sound as they should. Previous Message
I don’t really mind the shark. The students in the student section seem to like him and respond to him. One girl waves a little stuffed shark.
But that new Fight song has to go, why do we need a new fight song. It seems like the Administration is denying any history and tradition LBS has. What was wrong with the old Fight song and Jesus Christ Superstar? Plus the new song sucks. Previous Message
Thank you!
We need a mascot geared towards the LB students at the game, and NOT geared towards elementary school aged children. Previous Message
Is an embarrassment. Its stupid and only little kids seem to like it. 30 minutes before the game the announcer introduced the spirit team and then intro'd Elbee as "The heart and soul of Long Beach" I kid you not. I almost puked. I pray the next President and AD have the sense and cajones to harpoon that mistake I'd rather have no mascot at this point. Remember, that shark and the stupidness behind bailing on the 49ers and Pete has lost us plenty of donations and goodwill. I won't give a red cent beyond my season ticket purchases until that pox of a mascot is fed to an Orca and they do something respectful to the 49ers name and tradition it represents.
That shark is reprehensible to me! Not sorry if that offends anyone. Previous Message
They looked good tonite, but we can’t glean much from a D2 game. The passing was very good, and the steals were really impressive. More Aboubacar! He plays great defense, grabs rebounds that shouldn’t be his, and shoots for a high percentage. When he is fouled he makes his FTs.
For our big men, if I had to choose right now I would take Polynice. He catches passes cleanly, turns quickly, and puts it in the basket. TJ Robinson used to do this. With L. Traore and Stroud there are times when the whole arena knows they are gonna dribble a few times and then put a shot.
The Shark: people, we all want the prospector back but the shark is fine for a school near the beach. Our real problem is the name of our team, the California State University Long Beach Beach. Previous Message
